Transportation planning can have a major impact on physical mobility and economic opportunity, particularly in car-oriented communities where people without personal vehicles have a hard time accessing essential services. In recent years, movements such as Complete Streets and Vision Zero are drawing attention to the need for a more holistic approach to transportation planning that includes and prioritizes multiple modes of transit.
