Course Description

This course is for planners with a few years of practice under their belts and who are wondering how they can be more effective and derive greater satisfaction from their work. The course builds on a framework for understanding practice, encourages attendee reflection, and helps attendees understand the positions of others they will encounter in their career. Illustrated with cases from practice, the framework connects positions and choices back to the planner’s assessment of political and administrative context, adopted professional style, and personal commitments.

"Prof. Willson clearly shows how the messiness of planning is because there is rarely only one path or solution. I was surprised and the depth of the content while remaining very accessible to digest and think about. I think this is a good module for those changing career paths or wanting to refresh themselves on work environments."

What I liked about this course was the underlying philosophy, guidance, related to the planning profession. I would recommend this course for someone new to (or who is exploring) planning.
