Course Description

Land use and transportation systems are inextricably linked. Land uses, and their distribution in space, produce demands for travel, while transportation systems allow the spatial distribution of land uses. This course reviews the roles of transportation systems and technology in influencing land value and locational decisions. The course also shows how integrated planning for land use and transportation systems is overcoming a historical separation that produced poor outcomes in congestion, equity, and environment in post-WW2 American cities.
