Course Description
Although LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) was developed with U.S. standards and practices, it's proven to be of considerable international interest. In response, USGBC and GBCI are accepting non-U.S. certification submissions that must rely heavily on equivalency between United States-based requirements and circumstances in other nations. This course identifies major areas of required equivalencies and explores options for successfully demonstrating compliance or for obtaining special exemptions.
ND completed its first major update since 2009 with the launch of LEED v4 in 2014. The course also reviews 1) how major changes in v4 are likely to affect future projects, including the creation of two separate ND rating systems for planned and built projects, and 2) changes to 34 credits, from qualifying wetlands to energy reference standards.
