The role of women in the management and creation of cities has changed over time, but cities consistently lack equitable representation. How does this underrepresentation impact the built environment? From architecture to urban policy, this course will investigate how women have impacted cities over time from the earliest cities to today, and why the ongoing and evolving contribution of women to planning and design is important for the future of cities. In this course, we will investigate the meaning of “feminist city planning," explore how women have impacted cities past and present, and imagine what a women-led city would look like from a variety of perspectives—both bottom-up and top-down.

I have been reading about how modern and contemporary cities have been designed and centered around men. This investigation traces the origin of the phenomenon back to before the first industrial revolution.
