Course Description

In this course we will discuss the comprehensive plan, sometimes called a “master plan” or a “general plan.” A comprehensive plan serves as the foundation for good planning for local governments in the United States—and as the foundation for the “Introduction to Planning” series developed by Professor Kelly. The discussion here will include the key elements that make a plan “comprehensive” and a review of user-friendly formatting considerations. At the end of this discussion, a participant should be able to evaluate the completeness and usefulness of an adopted (or draft) local comprehensive plan.
