In this course, planners will learn techniques that can make their web content — including social media, public outreach and input mechanisms and agency and plan websites — accessible for people with disabilities. This course builds on lessons from the two prior courses on document accessibility and should be taken following those courses, as many of the document techniques also work for web content. We will also teach about checking for keyboard and non-visual access, providing alternative media formats and considerations for accessible visual design. Students will learn ways to bring these concerns to colleagues who focus on website design and maintenance and be able to identify common access barriers and solutions for planning-related web content.
