Understanding LEED Neighborhood Development

The LEED for Neighborhood Development (also known as LEED-ND) rating system certifies the sustainability of neighborhoods using an integrated set principles based in smart growth, new urbanism, and green construction. Course instructor Eliot Allen, with experience supervising LEED certification reviews for over 200 neighborhoods worldwide, guides students around Portland, Oregon neighborhoods. Throughout the track, Allen discusses the goals and uses of LEED-ND, resources for governments, submission preparation, international considerations, and more. Students also learn about rating system prerequisites and credit requirements, the LEED certification process, and technical resources available for assembling successful certification submissions. Each course in this track is approved for AICP CM credit.
