Course Description

This course is the fourth in a four-part series on urban sustainability appraisal tools and how they serve as collaboration platforms and sustainability accelerators for communities. Assessment and rating tools to be covered in this course include the Envision infrastructure rating system; other notable U.S. tools, including WELL District, SEED, H+T Affordability Index, Walk Score, INVEST, Greenroads, Community Wildlife Habitat, Cooperative Sanctuary, PEER, and the Local Energy Efficiency Scorecard; notable local tools in Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, and Minnesota; notable tools available outside of North America; and notable private sector tools. The course also presents a six-step tool selection procedure and a review of general trends and future prospects for sustainability appraisal tools. At the conclusion of this course, you will be familiar with the Envision infrastructure rating system and aware of other notable tool options for evaluating community and neighborhood sustainability as well as trends and prospects affecting future appraisal tools.
